Yoga

What is yoga?

Have you ever wanted complete inner peace? Find your center, locate your chi? What is yoga really besides the entire spiritual hoo-ha and crazy flexible positions? What would yoga do for you? Ever wanted to literally step off the treadmill and find out?
OHM! Namaste! Yoga is a Hindu discipline aimed at training the consciousness for a state of perfect spiritual insight and tranquility. It involves a series of exercises (stretches and poses) practiced to promote control of the body and mind. There are sitting and standing positions that focus on different muscles or on flexibility or balance. Many of the positions either relieve and open tight / tense places in the body or isolate and work muscles. There are eight different types of yoga known as limbs, but today most people only practice the third limb, the physical limb, called asana.

Why is it fun?

After a yoga practice, the feeling is indescribable. Because so many different parts of your body are reached and you have arrived at a point of intense focus, your body and mind will feel refreshed and new. Doing yoga for an hour or two releases endorphins into the blood stream and will make you feel euphoric. It’s a complete body high.

Moreover, yoga is designed for every type of person—stressed out, inflexible, old, young, whomever! Consequently, the nice part of learning yoga is that you practice with a diverse group of people; it’s a great way to meet new folks.

Why is it healthy?

Yoga increases the body’s strength, flexibility, and balance. Moreover, yoga affects ALL AREAS OF THE BODY, especially your MIND! Yoga can also be very spiritual, which is something you may want to explore if you are looking for an understanding of a peaceful life.
