Running for Youth - Where to Go
One of the great things about running is that it can be done almost anywhere that is accessible by foot. Most running can be done on sidewalks in your neighborhood. You will find a lot of other places to run by simply going out and exploring. It is also enjoyable to go running on the many spectacular trails that are found in Marin County, such as Mt. Tamalpais State Park and China Camp State Park. Also, there are a lot of multi-use trails such as the Tiburon bike path, the Mill Valley bike path and the path that runs along Corte Madera Creek from Ross to Larkspur Landing.
KNOW WHERE TO GO AND KEEP GOING!
Beginners should know that it is easy to get discouraged. Getting comfortable at running can take time and patience. As you gain experience and your running improves, think about joining a running club or a running team. In High School, it’s easy and fun to join either the cross country team or the track team. Both are great ways to have fun and meet lots of great people.
Here are some more links to great trails:
The five-mile route from Crissy Field to Ocean Beach, running by such landmarks as the Golden Gate Bridge and Baker Beach.
The Marin Headlands’ exposed ridges provide glorious views of the Bay and coast on this route.
